Can anyone provide input on Gulf Breeze as an alternate to living in Pensacola? What is the social climate, etc.?

My boyfriend and I live in Oklahoma, he just moved back here after living in Gulf Breeze for 10 years. He loved it there, beautiful beaches. I have never been there and he is taking me there on June 1 for a week to see his daughter graduate. He describes it as a 'well to do' community, there is alot of vacation homes there, and alot of money. There is not much in the way of work, he had to go to Pensacola to work, everyone knows everyone, the cops mess with you alot. Blues on the beach one night a week, take your own drinks and party till ya want. Alot of women with hardly anything on...lol The pics I have seen of it are beautiful, I am afraid I won't want to come home once I see it. oh, btw, fishing is good.

LOVE IT here! Very close to the beaches, like 10 mins. Lot's of local amenities. Very safe. Very well maintained. Strong law enforcement presence. Great schools. Great place to live!

Trying to decide rather to live in Gulf Breeze or Pace? My husband and I are currently in GA and are moving to FL for a job. We are in our 30's with 2 young children. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Extremely expensive. You are in storm surge/flood territory. depending onthe home I would expect it to be at the minimum $3000 - $4000/yr

How much do you want the typical Florida beach life? Pace is going to be more affordable, both in terms of housing and insurance cost, but is more generic suburbia and you're further from the amenities of Pensacola Beach and downtown Pensacola. Both areas have desired Santa Rosa County schools, though Gulf Breeze is seen as a stronger part of that district. Both areas also have some really strong youth sports programs, though with Gulf Breeze the emphasis is more soccer and Pace is more baseball/softball.

I'd go for Gulf Breeze myself, but that's largely because I prefer the more small town feel to Pace's suburban sprawl.
