Adopted in Buffalo, have amended birth certificate with possible SS# Need help! (brother, person)

I was adopted in Buffalo NY in 1968 from Lutheran Service Socity. I have an amended birth certificate that has a number that looks like a Social Security number that could have been my origional SS#. I am having serious health issues and need to locate my birth mother. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

SS numbers are not issued on birth, you likely have the mothers SS#.

I have been looking for my brother who was adopted out of Buffalo, NY in 1968. He was born at Booth Memorial Hospital March 31,1968. I'm pretty sure that it was through the Salvation Army, but I'm not to sure I have had a listing up on adoption.com for years. It should be easier to find out information on birth parents. I know my mother has serious health issues and they have been passed down to us and my nieces and nephews.
