general question re: this section of the forum (lookup, records, phone)

is posting here mostly a hit-or-miss type of thing, like a person would only get results if someone happened to recognize a person's name? or are there forum members here who know how to help search for someone?

Tia, I'm not one of the searchers. But you will find that there are many people on this forun who can help you. They do it out of the goodness of thier hearts. Just make sure to start your own thread and post as much info as you can. Do some looking on your own first, don't expect this forum to do the work for you. Good luck.

The above reply is correct. There are lots of people who will be willing to help, and some of them are quite good. One important thing though; this is a public forum and anything you post here will be read by thousands, so be careful about posting personal info. Some of us, if it gets too personal/private, will go to Direct Messages and maybe even agree to correspond by email after a while. Good luck

I see you have a post about your brother. You need to put his name in the post. The correct way to do it would be to put his name & state if possible in the subject line.

There are a lot of success stories; it depends on how much information is in the post. There are people here that have paid memberships to sites where they can get more info then others.

The other way you'll get results is by search engines picking up your key words; so say your brother is googling his name; or he has a GF or kids; they will find your post.

don't forget to search Facebook and Myspace too.. Check their friends lists. You may find their children or even the person you're looking for.
