my father is from lagos , nigeria , west africa he was studying law at the LSE in london ,as far as i know he was here in 1958 ,59, 60 i do not have a surname all i have been told is that his name is sam, I know this is a long shot but you never know somebody might know how i can find him

I wouldn't be surprised if Sam is not your father's real name. In my experience many Africans who have immigrated to European countries take on more "international sounding" names in their new countries. For example, a friend of mine from Gambia who lives in Sweden calls himself Jimmy but his real name is actually Ousman. A Nigerian guy I used to know called himself Eddie but his name was something entirely different. Of course some Africans do have more European sounding names so your dad's name may very well be Sam but I wouldn't count on it.

Maybe you could try putting an ad in a Nigerian paper or on Nigerian websites with the info you do have but emphasize that "Sam" may be a nickname.

thanks for that i was aware that sam was not going to be his real name, its people who studied at the lse i was after i have contacted the nigerian embassy with no responce. oh well guess i just plod on .
