I am seeking my half sister (afroamerican) who was born out of wed lock between 1946-1950 in Santa Barbara, CA. Unfortunately, I was never learned her name and I was told that her mother did not list my dad on the birth certificate because their were other siblings. My dad did share that said she became a teacher in the Santa Barbara area and is probably retired, she did marry and had children. My half sister and I met once and I remember we played together in a front yard in Santa Barbara while her mom talked to my dad. My uncle he was watching us play and standing beside him we watched them drive off. My I remember when I inquired about the little girl who I was playing with in the front yard and said she was my sister. In the summer of 1996, I asked my dad about my "sister memory" and he gave me a brief information, he begged me to not say anything to my mom, and leave it in the past. Dad and mom have passed away and we were a very small family from Santa Barbara, CA who moved to southern CA. in the 1950's. Now I am widowed with no children and have no immediate living family members except for some distance cousins. Any suggestions to connect with her would be greatly appreciated. thank you
My suggestion would be for you to give us your name, DOB, and cities you have lived in. Same for your dad, and ask your uncle if he remembers her name. Even then I think you are going to have a hard time finding her.
cowdog... what are we supposed to do with her and her father's personal info? The sister she is looking for will not be listed as a relative. So no use for that. Please feel free to correct me, though.
Ms Californian... Do you have the mother's information? Maybe your sister is listed as a relative. It's hard to find somebody with "was a teacher, married and had children in the Santa Barbara area".

To be honest I am not sure any of it would help me at all to solve this. Although to me it sounded the half sister was fathered by the same dad (hence his info, yeah I know he isn't suppose to be on the BC). The half sister may know her other sisters name and might have posted about her somewhere. Plus I like to know who I am helping because if I have any doubts I'm not sharing stuff I find. The person she is looking for could very well be looking back, and could know her and her dad. I surely can't do much with just "Ms californian" to go on.
It's up to the poster tho if she wants to give that info out (yeah I'd like the mothers info also). Just as it stands now I can't help.
If you are ever in Santa Barbara, you can always look in the school yearbooks at the library. You can make a list of the teachers who may fit the approximate age and ethnicity of the woman you are seeking. Some schools have on-line yearbooks, I think.
