HELLO,

I am a female, and I was adopted as an infant from The Sisters of the Nunery in Washington DC. I understand that the Sisters of the Nunery is closed. How can I go about finding information on my birth mother? Birth-mom was a young blonde teenager. That's all I was told.

Are you sure it was "Sisters of the Nunnery"? That doesn't sound familiar at all. Are you sure it wasn't called something else?

There was a Florence Crittenden Home in Washington, where birthmothers might live. Other adoption agencies handled the adoptions. In your case it might have been Catholic Charities. This may help: For those looking for their Birth families | Crittenton Services of Greater Washington The catholic Charites number is on this site, and I suggest that you contact them first.

In any case, I wish you success. Your birthmother would probably love to hear from you. You might also contact the Concerned United Birth-parents if you need reassurance that it is OK to search for her..
