hi my name is kristen Crofut I'm 25 years old. My father David Roland Crofut, was born 02/14/1940 In Huntington park, CA. ( im not sure though) I know he was married numerous times. but he had only told my mom about one other marriage, in which he had two children, Pamela Crofut and Greg, or gregory crofut. the marriage did not work out because my father was abusive to the wife. She moved away with the kids, I have a photo of pam and greg from when they were kids. I dont know how to find them where to start, i'm not sure if there mom changed there last name or not. I just know I have a brother and sister i've never met. my father died on april 11 1991. after he passed away, we recieved a few phone calls from other women, whom were looking for my father, when my mom asked why they were calling they said they were married to dave years and years ago, that they divorced him due to the violence but that they did give birth to his child, my mom being so over come with all this information, she hung up, she felt betrayed he lied to her through out there marriage. and now that he was gone she had to raise me and my 3 brothers by herself, and to top it off learn all this. any ideas on how to find my siblings??
my dads name is : David Roland Crofut born 02/14/1940 died: 04/11/1991his fathers name was : John/ Johnny Crofut (unsure of birthdate) my dad has and older sister named Cathy Crofut, she changed her last name to Brown, and he had a brother named Paul, whom I never met. My father served in the Koren war in the Navy. and my grandfather was in the military as well.

For Pamela and Greg, what was their mother's name (first middle maiden)? Could it have been Johann Clark?

I looked through births in California and I found 1 Pamela A born 1966 but I found no Gregs. Was your dad living in California when he was with their mother? Could either or both have been born out of state?

Cali, were you able to find any other women that he married or divorced in California? Kristen said other women called and said they were married to him long ago. I have all the Crofuts in the California birth index that are listed, but they don't have first names of the parents, only last names. If you come up with any more, let me know and I'll check the birth index for them.
Also, Cali, do you know if the children are legally adopted do they remove their name from the birth index? I know they have in Texas because I've run across it a couple of times, but I don't know what California does and was hoping you might.

Once adopted, their original birth certificate is sealed and would not show up in the public record. If Greg is Pamela's brother, establishing contact with her will probably result in meeting the brother, too, so at this point I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Seems we are working out of the same birth index. Bet it is alot easier for you. I went through every single CROF one by one until I got to Crofut. OMG. Took forever.

The Ca Birth Index is going to be exactly the same wherever you find it, and unfortunately only lists the mother's maiden surname, making searching harder. I found the marriages first, then searched the Crofuts in the birth index one by one looking for those maiden names. But I won't complain... at least Ca gives us a birth index. A majority of the states don't.

susan im sorry it took me so long to see your replies. I'm not positive but, i to have been researching my fathers past marriages. I'm new to all this. i came up with 3 names that my father was married to, ottinger, kromer, clark. i'm going to check with my mom, and i will post again right after. thank you so very much.

im not sure by how many years but my dads sister cathy is older then my father by at least a few years. ( we dont talk) and cathy changed her last name from Crofut to Brown. and lives in vegas i believe
