I am now 58 years old and have lived in Northern Ireland all my life.
My father was a G.I. in 5th Infantry Division and was sent to Ireland to train for the Invasion of Europe on 6.6.44.
He met my mother and not long after they were married.
He left Ireland for france in July 44 and did not return to the U.S.A. until 1946 after the liberation of Europe.
My mother Nancy joined him and they lived in Pell Lake with my sister Carolyn.
My father (Vernon Abbott Benson) was on his way to work on June 1st 1948 when his car was involved in an accident one mile east of Genoa City and he was fatally injured.
I would like to contact anyone who can give me any information about this accident or who can supply any leads.

Hi,

I would start with the county office. It could either be Walworth County or Kenosha County since one mile east is practically on the county line.

Either place would have public records for the county sherriff, which I would assume is what you're looking for.

A quick google turned up this:
http://www.co.walworth.wi.us/Sheriff/Website/faq.htm (broken link)
http://www.kccjs.org

Good luck.

Hi,
Many thanks for your advice, I hadn't thought of this.
I will now try both Sherriff's Depts and hope they can help,
Many Thanks,
Vernadie
