I have a friend named Whalen Phillips. He has two brothers he has never met. His mother (Zoraida Colon) was previously with a man (Victor Cruz) who abused her regularly. She retaliated to save her life. She fled (this all occurred in Manhattan, NY). She left behind two sons, Victor and Robert John Cruz. Back then it wasn't considered self-defense and domestic violence wasn't recognized as abuse. You know the saying, "what happens in the privacy of someone's home stays there." We know one of the brothers was in Iraq with the military. The brothers Victor Cruz and Robert John Cruz would be in their 40's. We are trying to find any assistance because Whalen's mother isn't doing well. She has kidney failure and is now on dialysis. We would like to find them before she passes. She has alot of regrets but loves them. It would be a blessing from God to be able to reunite them before it is too late. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. We can't seem to find them on social media. Their names are very common.

It would be better if your friend came on this board so he can answer questions that may lead to him finding his brothers. When someone is the go between, it takes longer, and we have experienced on this forum before, usually leads to misinformation.

He needs exact dates of birth, I'm sure his mother knows the dates she gave birth to them. What address did she leave them at. What year did she leave them, at what age? What the circumstances of why they stayed. I take it Whalen is a half brother? Is he older/younger than the other two.

It's nice you want to help your friend, but what has your friend actually done himself in looking for them? I ask so we don't do double tracking when we do have more information. No reason to look now, at least not for me, without more information it's a wild goose chase.

This thread may help with his search, and providing you with some guidance on what you need to know to help find him:

His mother is not well & it has been next to impossible to get further info from her. Whalen is their younger half brother. They were in Manhattan, NY when left. Again, it was a painful decision to leave them with their father at the time. The info I've given you is all Whalen has to go on.

Whalen has no idea where to start. This is why I'm assisting him. This is hard for him.

Thank you.

Here's what I have on one of the brothers:
Robert Cruz
dob: 1/6/1971
born at Mt Sinai Hospital in Manhattan, NY.
mother: Zoraida Colon was 21 when he was born.
Her address at the time (on birth certificate) was: 23 E. 108th St. New York, NY 10029
father: Victor Manuel Cruz was 24 when he was born.
both Zoraida & Victor (parents) are shown as born in Puerto Rico on the birth certificate.

Any & all help would be greatly appreciated!

I'll send an address and email for one of Robert's relatives.
