Good Day Colorado,
I am searching for an old army friend that was stationed with me at Merrell Barracks, Nurnberg, Germany. I was in B Battery, 2nd Bn. 75th Artillary. I am looking for Curtis Higgenbotham who was a mechanic. This was from Oct. 1965 to approx. Feb. 1967. Curtis was from Colorado City, Colorado. I along with another army buddy, His name is John Alexander would sure love to get to talk and see Curtis. Please, if you know a Curtis Higgenbothem who is from or was from Colorado City, ask him to get in touch to go over old times. Thanks in advance, Garnet Piper. pipergarnet@yahoo.com
Wouldn't you think it would be easy to find someone with an uncommon name? I'm hoping one of yours is the right one because I'm finding lots of people he probably is not.
I found a Curtis Wayne and a Curtis James in birth records in Texas. Unfortunately I don't have Ancestry so although I get their names, I don't get their dates of birth. There is a Colorado City in Texas.
I also found another Curtis in Florida, his brother passed away in Jacksonville, but I believe it said they were life residents of Jacksonville and this guy was from Colorado City (3 choices, Colorado, TX or AZ - poster says CO). There are actually a few mentions of a Curtis Higgenbotham on the page, if you search the page you can find them. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb....obituaries.htm
There is also an older Curtis who just died last year - he was from VA and died in NC, but he was born in 1922. http://obituaries.news-record.com/ob...&pid=142122871
I've got to guess if he was in the service in the 60's, he was probably born in the 40's, but just a guess.
None of mine seem to be panning out.
I tried the Veteran's Gravesites and he is not there.

Susan, searching Ancestry for you...
The ones you saw on Ancestry are spelled "Higginbotham," which seems to be a more common spelling. Curtis Wayne was born 3 Apr 1944 and Curtis James was born in 1949 according to Nevada marriage and divorce records (I don't see a Texas birth record on him). There are only 2 very old census records for "Curtis Higgenbotham."
There is also a Curtis Higginbotham born 17 Aug 1949 with several addresses in Oregon. Nothing comes up in Colorado, under either spelling.
Thanks, hcgCali. I guess we are going to have to wait for our original poster to come back and give us more information, like age, DOB, other places he was known to live, middle names. I sure thought this one was going to be easy. Maybe he will come on himself if he searches his name.

Sorry for not checking sooner. Health is not what it used to be. I will check with another old army buddy to see if we can think of any other info. From what i remember, Curtis was about 20 or 21 in 1966. His last name is spelled correctly. I beleive he was born and raised in Colorado City, Texas. Will get back to you soon.
