It's Tarrytown, not Terrytown. Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow are separate villages that are located next to each other. Until about ten years ago, Sleepy Hollow was called North Tarrytown.

Hope that helps!

I was born in Tarrytown in 1941 and lived there until I was 20yrs old. My father and mother both lived there all their lives and died there. My father had a juke box business.

White Plains(HPN) is closest to Tarrytown and would be the smart choice if you were flying there. However LGA, (http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/airports/html/laguardia.html - broken link) JFK (http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/airports/html/kennedy.html - broken link), EWR (http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/airports/html/newarkliberty.html - broken link) or SWF (http://www.panynj.gov/COMMUTINGTRAVEL/airports/html/stewart.html - broken link)are within 40 miles of Tarrytown. LGA is the 2nd closest to Tarrytown and is about 22 miles away.

Sleepy Hollow was North Tarrytown until the GM plant closed and they needed to try and get some business into the town to replace the income lost that was brought in by all the GM employees who were laid off.

So, they re-named it, based on all the Headless Horseman stuff by Washington Irving (The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow) to hopefully increase tourism.
