I am a direct descendant of Absalom and Jane Ragon that moved to Morrison's Bluff, AR after the Civil War with their children. My direct descendant is Eli Cleve Ragon and then George Martin Ragon. Absalom and Jane's daughther Mary Ann was married in Tennessee to a William C. Hixson from around Chattanoga. He was hanged by bushwackers in front of her and her 9 children, and then revenge was taken on the bushwackers. I would like any information on these people. If you have anything please email me.

Thank you!
Susan Hannan

p.s. it is listed as spelled Ragan in a Tennessee paper. We have always spelled it Ragon but it could have changed.

Default Dates

Could you give some dates of when these people where alive and when they were where they were? Thanks. I can check the newspapers better if I had that. Also, have you tried rootsweb? Another good place for family history.
Susan

On Angelfire.com Absalom was born 7/10/1801 and died 3/17/1880 and was buried in the Ragon Family Cemetery in Morrison

This is some info on the Hixsons 3/10/2007 - Hamilton County Pioneers - The Hixson Family - Memories - Chattanoogan.com

Default Ragon at Morrison's Bluff

I, too, am a descendent of George Martin Ragon and have a tremendous amount of research on them. I would be glad to share this with you. Please email your questions to cbcoffman29@yahoo.com

Are you related to me? That article is where I found a piece to the mystery of the bushwackers buried in the Ragon cemetary in Morrison's Bluff, AR. I had always heard about them but I didn't know the story until I found it on that website. I have a 90 year old cousin that did not know it either so I am pretty sure my grandfather who would have been 101 this year didn't know it either! If you are related to me and can make it, there is a Ragon reunion this Sunday at the Catholic Church in Morrison's Bluff, AR. It isn't far from Interstate 40, on one of the Clarksville exits. I can get you more information if you are interested. Also if you have anymore information about my family that you would like to share, I would LOVE it!
Thank you,
Susan Hannan
