I am looking for information about a schoolteacher named Miss. Franks who taught my dad at Haylake school in or near Tulia Texas in the 1930's -1940's. Though I myself never met her, my dads stories of her inspired me to become a teacher. In fact, I wanted to be like her in many ways because she so touched my dad with her compassion and caring. She was his teacher from 1st. grade on. My dad would always tear up when he would tell me about Miss. Franks. When he was 19, he was sent to France during the war, and she would write letters of encouragement and send home made fruit cake. When he got back stateside, he recieved his last letter from her, she told him that she was going to get married and move to Galveston, Tx. I was wondering if anyone knew her, or knows who she married. Anything about her would be helpful. I can't even seem to find information on a Haylake School. Thanks, C.S. Yocom
My father went to Haylake School, but this Haylake School was about 6 or 7 miles East of Silverton, TX. Silverton is 23 miles East of Tulia, TX. I was raised 4 miles East of Silverton. I was also born in Tulia, that was the closet doctor my Mother and Father had.
