I am looking for a man my sister knew 20 years ago. I only know his first name is Scott, She does not recall his last name. He was about 19 years old in 1987, He would be approximately 39 years old now. He lived in Sherwood Forest Campground in North Myrtle Beach, Windy hill Beach area of South Carolina, Lived with his father and step mother, dont know their names. His father was the host or manager of the campground and possibly a preacher. The campground was later renamed Barefoot RV Campground and then later sold. Scott was originally from somewhere in North Carolina. Possibly returned there. My sister only knew Scott for about 2 months but it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that we find this man. Scott has a large tatoo on his leg possibly a dragon or something like that. We have tried contacting different people to get the name of the campgrounds owner and all we have is that it was a lady with the last name of Lewis. We have been searching for several years with no real leads. It we knew who owned the campground in 1987 or the managers(Scotts father)name then we could possibly find Scott. Sorry so long but I am new to posting on forums and it is a long story but any help would be greatly appreciated. PLEEEZ!!!
You should be able to find the owner listed in the archives of the Fictitious Business Name (DBA.."doing business as") database for the state of South Carolina, or perhaps in the county records. The county tax assessor would be another place to look.. the property tax records show previous owners.
thanx hcgCali, we are trying that but getting runaround, right now we have to do everything by phone as we are in Tennessee. Our mother went to courthouse in Conway SC all they would give her was the last name Lewis as owners of campground 20 yrs ago. This is frustrating but we won't stop since we have been trying for years. Remember what you do when you are young and remember names, you never know whats going to come back to bite ya.

"I liked the shelters at each of the sites at Pirate Land. Sherwood Forest (a 500-site campground where I camped a number of years ago) used to be located in North Myrtle Beach. This area has become primarily malls and shopping areas. The owners relocated to the southern section of Myrtle Beach and renamed the campground "Pirateland." (simplycamping)

which gives a different address/phone number. So if the number above doesn't work, I suggest you call or email Scalise Realty. I'm guessing they either bought and developed the campground property, or were the selling agent. Either way, they should have access to the records you need. The Agents page listed under "about us" shows Matt Scalise with a toll free number (866)394-5134
In the meantime, I'm tediously searching the Horry County property owners records for a Lewis with 59.71 acres. I'm still on the "A's"
Anyone reading this have Lexis or Westlaw access? Any law students from the Education forum? Help, please! Please go to "South Carolina" -"public records" - and put "Sherwood Forest Campground" or the street address into the search box. It should pull up all the business and property records.
hcgCali- you guys are great. I would have no idea how to find all this stuff. Been checking camping forums and such. Passed your latest info to my sis, she is calling the numbers now, she also called some pastors in the area if they have been there long enough they may know something. After all these years anything is worth trying. Sent e-mail to Scalise Realty, Cross fingers and PRAY!!!
