I am looking for my father, David Roberts. He would have been living in Baytown, TX in 1974. He was attending college there and was between the ages of 19 and 21. His father lived in Baytown and his mother lived in New Orleans (Metairie, I believe).

Since he has a common name, makes him harder to find. What is your mother's name? Is his name on your birth certificate? Were you born in 1974 or 1975? Were your parents ever married? Were you adopted? Do you know his parents names? What was he going to college for? Do you live in Baytown? Have you checked the David Roberts that still live in Baytown?

How true. I was involved with a David (Allen) Roberts in 1974 who was 20 years old, but this was in San Jose California. Trust me, the David I knew is no one's father.

My mother's name was Marilyn Arnold and she was 16. My parents were never married, nor does my mother acknowledge that this man is my father. (Although she halfway let it slip and several other family member confirmed this, including my dad. We also had pictures and a letter before a fire took them. I know his mom was living in Metairie at the time, and that I look exactly like him.) I was born in March 1975. The man's name on my birth certificate is the dad i knew growing up, but now know is not my biological father. He met, then married my mom knowing she was pregnant with someone else's baby.

I know nothing about David Roberts other than we believe he was 19, although one source thought 21. The man himself knew that my mother was pregnant, but would/could not marry her at the time.

I live a few hours from Baytown. We have begun to contact all the David Roberts in the Houston area, will move on to New Orleans, and then spread to the rest of the two states if we have to.

I posted here, partly because he did know she was pregnant and wanted some contact, but she disappeared. I have been hoping that he or someone who may know him sees this. Hehe, and I do know how common this name is...195 David Robertsons in Texas, and those are only the ones I know about. And then there is always the chance that his middle name is David, and that is what he went by. I know so little.

I am sure my mother has more details about him, but she refuses to discuss them, as she is still denying the whole thing.

We mostly just want medical history as I have my own family now; but if he wants to know me, I would like to meet him.

I got a bit more info out of my mom. she says his name was Robertson, but a more reliable source says it was definitely Roberts. I guess now I will be searching both names!

He probably went to high school in Baytown. His grandparents lived in New Orleans, and he had a sister. He was studying computer science in whatever college in Baytown/Houston that he was attending.

No one remembers any names though, other than his, and now I have two last names for him. They can't even get his age straight. Mom says he was 21 or so, but more reliable sources have him at 19. She only went on a couple of dates with him, so she may not know for sure. She is also still not admitting he is my father.

I've written two letters, i'll try this....i am david robertson, very obviously the man you are looking for...i met marilyn arnold in the spring of 1974. she lived with her parents and siblings in colonial trailer park in baytown. i met her at the community pool and found her to be not only very pretty, but more importantly a great personality and maturity beyond her years....when summer started, she moved to hattiesburg and i moved to metairie to work as a longshoreman....i took a week off and stayed with marilyn in hattiesburg, then she returned to metairie with me for a week then had to return to hattiesburg...at the end of summer i moved back to texas to resume college, when i found thru one of her friends that she was pregnant, i called and offered to quit college, pick her up and marry her immediately, but she refused...she had my number and i asked her to call and i would help her any way possible, i never heard from her again..later i heard from the same friend of hers that she had a healthy baby boy and that she had married an off-shore worker...i felt that my interference would do more harm than good, and since marilyn never contacted me then that was how she must have wanted it to work out..your half brother eric has written you also, so you see, even my children know about you and we all are excited about reconnecting...you said marilyn was very reluctant about all this, please reassure her that i won't cause her any discomfort, i admire her and have always felt like a low life due to the way things worked out with us in our young struggling days. My hat is off to your father, he must really be a saint to marry a young pregnant woman and raise you like his own....trust me, if i had my way your name on the birth certificate would have been robertson, please contact me at crdaverobertson@yahoo.com
