Hi everyone, i am in need of some guidance. I have been for 2 yrs now looking for my 1/2 sister. Unfortunately i don't have much information which is what's driving me NUTS. I am told she is older than me no more than 2 yrs. the problem i have? both my parents are deceased and i have no one to ask anymore information. I have the tidbits my mother confessed to when i was already 21 and i have no more........ I have my fathers social security information but have not found any evidence to support what i was told. I ran a background check on my father and came up empty. I tried to locate year books but also came up empty. I was told by my mother that my sister has my momma first name but has her own mothers last name. According to my mother, my dad never signed the birth certificate, however when i last asked my fathers sister she informed me that he indeed sign the certificate, therefore she has my last name. What should i believe, i don't know but i went with both ideas and searched. I was informed her mother has also passed away and was also told we lived in the same neighborhood for many many years. this saddens me to no end because i have no parents and no siblings. I have two little boys and i feel a void of family. I managed to trace and find many long lost family even ancestors dating back to 1700's but i can't locate anything on my sister!!! Any ideas? I thought that maybe i can find a place that can use his SS# to search birth certificates for his name and perhaps come up with her certificate!!! anyone?????
I believe her name is Evelyn Ortiz she would have been born in 1971-1973, i was born in 74. We both lived in new york city, lower east side. I was told she was raised by her grandmother who lived on 13st Ave b. I've been through facebook, twitter, myspace, meebo, bebo you name it i've searched!!! i went searching for yearbooks to the school they attended to perhaps be able to find her mothers name... no luck..... any advise help would be appreciated.....

Have you tried searching your old school books for her? You stated that you lived in the same neighborhood for many years. Perhaps someone knows someone named Evelyn... or her Grandmother's name.
