Hi, Am trying to locate information on Edward William Magee, bn 10 June 1915, in N. Ireland. Served with the Royal Ulster Rifles in WW11. Joined up Oct, 1940. Relinquished his command as War Sub. Lt. Nov 1948, granted Hon. rank of Captain. His service no. was 165092. He served in Italy during 1945 and with the 20th Indian Infantry Brigade. Also with the 53rd British Liaison Unit. After the war went to Canada, and was at Camp Borden in Ontario for 12 years. We know that he returned to Northern Ireland where he died in Oct 1969.
He was a very talented man, educated at Trinity in Dublin and able to speak many languages. His older brother Hugh was in the RAF and he was tragically killed returning home on the Mourne Mountains, on leave from Feltwell in England, in 1942.
If anyone knows any other details regarding Edward's service, his mates in the R.U.R or his life in Canada or N.Ireland we would appreciate hearing about it. Edward was my Husband's Uncle and he is researching their lives as best he can from New Zealand.
Cheers Jan
