I was hoping someone could help with this situation. Its not actually mine, but rather someone very dear to me.

His father was adopted into this family and the record of that adoption is not available-- it just appears that the father is born into the (adoptive) family. I guess they've done it under the book (or it could be the laws were super lax back then). We know the father is adopted as its not a huge family secret. We do happen to know the names of the biological parents (HOWARD BERNARD SANDE and GRACE LAVERNE OLSON SANDE). We know that at the time, the biological parents were about to divorce at the time of father's birth (Jan 1947) and that they had an elder son born in 1943 (or thereabouts). They were Norwegian immigrants who moved to Seattle.

Now this is where it gets murky. The (adoptive) mother apparently told family members that the couple ended up *not* divorcing and that they had twin boys afterward. The (adoptive) mother is now dead, so we can't re-verify where she got her information. There is family speak of seeing the father's doppelgangers around town that surely has to be the twins or the older brother. But looking up, it appears that the elder brother apparently died in the 1950s and there is no information about the "twins". I'm not sure if there ever were twins born. I can't find information about the marriage or the divorce.

I was wondering if anyone could help resolve this issue as there are questions of health issues (father had juvenile diabetes and died young) and to solve this family's mystery.

This is quite an extensive obituary for Gerry R Sande of Granite Falls WA, one of the twins of Howard and Grace. His twin Thomas Darrell Sande passed on 12/1/2005.

Yes it was. (And a very detailed obituary which really was nicely prepared by the family)
