Right. There are times when you are in an area that your bank doesn't service. You could be stuck using another bank's ATM, maybe. For example: we went to Delaware a couple of years ago to visit my in laws. At the time, we banked with Chase ... and the nearest Chase was 30 miles away. We had to mail a deposit to them.
Of course, we didn't pay any fees; we go to the grocery or convenience store, buy something we need/want, and get cash back. No fees, and the money we spent on the item was for something tangible, not 30 seconds' "rent" on an ATM.
I just find it easier to have a bank account at a bank that reimburses for ATM fees.
its true...chase is charging $4 for using their atms for non bank customers....I needed some cash, and the chase atm was the closer then my bank in the location I was at, so I just pulled out $300 so I wont have to worry about running back to the atm or the bank anytime soon..
on another note, have any of you noticed that some stores, like Walgreens, CVS, Kroger and others are limiting the amount of cash back you can get at the register? Walgreens only allows $20.00 cash back now....CVS limit was $40.....a few years ago, you could get back as much as $100 in grocery stores....of course, you can still get that amount back at the register at Walmart...
wonder with all of these new bank fees coming out, will Walmart have a better chance at creating a national bank if they keep their fees limited?
