I just don't have enough in my accounts to justify his 1%- and he has it in (mostly) fixed income anyway. I just need some words to tell him I'll take over from here. Also what can I expect from SEI and American funds- can I leave my money in there or do I have to find another place to park it? Is this something that needs to be timed as to the end of the quarter or something? Can someone walk me through this please?

I would call SEI and American Funds and ask them questions. When Schwab notified us that they were no longer working with our financial adviser, I called and asked if we were required to get a new one or what our other options were. They were quite helpful. Schwab doesn't require a financial adviser, so I've been controlling the IRA myself since then.

You do it the way The Donald does it.

Seriously if you want to switch to a different financial firm, the firm that will be getting your business will cheerfully handle the transfer.
