Hey everyone, I owe the CA board of equalization 1,233 dollars of taxes from a few years back. A few months ago, I came to an agreement with one of the collectors there for an installment plan. I paid around 200 dollars a month and this past month, I could not pay the monthly fee because I got laid off…as a result, my bank account got levied which had 20 dollars?... I saved up enough money and went over to the place last week and the lady basically turned me down saying the installment plan is no longer in effect and I’ll have to pay the whole thing off or they’ll keep “collecting”…the levy came out of nowhere..are they allowed to surprise attack like that by the way?

thanks a lot.

Surprise attack?

Did you contact them as soon as you were laid off? What did they say then?

lol sorry what I mean was that my account was levied without any notice whatsoever.. was wondering if that's legal.

Yes I contacted the same lady responsible for my account and she told me it's none of her concern.

They dont let people know because they would remove the money first. You best use cash and open no more accounts until you pay up....Isnt it great being an american citizen where YOU can be identified and checked ?

Im sure you can give cash to someone and let them write the checks. You can pay bills with money orders and dont need an ID,green card. or even speak english. Dont forget YOU ARE IN THE SYSTEM and they think you must operate within the system..YOU DONT . 25 million illegal aliens here prove it.

Boosane,
Just keep sending waht you can afford every single month. If you can't
afford 200.00 a month anymore, send what you can, say 100.00 a month mabey.
Keep sending the payments in AND dON"t STOP, don't miss one for any reason.
They will see payments coming in on a monthly basis, and it could halt
further enforcement action. It might, until you stop your monthly payments again.
If I were you, I would scrape the money up and pay it off as soon as possible.
No, they will not levy any bank account without your name or SSn on the account.
Use money orders to send your monthly payments in with.
If you don't want them to know the name of your bank, don't
send payments in using a checking account. They will use that info.
And whatever you do, from now on, don't owe any government money.
Ever.
Remember, when the payments stop, the levys start.
Start it as soon as possible, you are probably collecting unemployment,
through the State, right?
