I just learned about this banking product that has up to 4% interest on the account. Although, most require direct deposit. I was wondering if anybody uses one that does not require direct deposit?

I use a Kasasa checking and savings account, I really like it. Mine only offers 1.51% though, I wish there was one close by offering 4%.

As far as one that doesn't use direct deposit though, I am not sure. All of the ones that your first link brought up require direct deposit.

I am trying to figure out how to join these credit unions which offer 4% interest. I live in California and the credit unions are in the middle of the US. Do you have to open an account in person or can you do it over the phone?

There are credit unions everywhere. I live in California, and I use a credit union. You can open one online, but you may have to meet certain criteria.

I have a Kasasa account, and love it! It feels like my credit union is paying me to bank with them!
