My checking account at my credit union is 45.00 short so i called the automated 24 hr customer service line & it said i made a 45.00 withdraw on july 5th. I did not make any withdraw. I have my checks & atm card with me at all times. What can i do about this ? Am i out 45.00 ?

Call or go to the bank tomorrow and ask a live person. If someone hacked your account, the bank will place a "freeze" on it and investigate.

Any chance you were hit with a fee after you made a withdrawal yourself? Did you write any checks you forgot about?

If it is your fault you will be out the amount of the withdrawal plus whatever is their overdraft fee.

You probably should post this in the Personal Finance forum, not Real Estate,

You should be able to get more details in person like the location of the withdrawl and a copy of the canceled check. Then you will have more information to determine if this is your error or fraud. If it's fraud the bank will most likely reimburse you.

I only wrote one check & that was for the rent. I only write 1 check per month. I still have all but one of the checks the bank issued me. I always keep accurate records & transactions. Always !
I dont understand how can someone withdraw funds from my checking account without a check or atm card ? To be on the safe side i will change my access code tomorrow. Thanks for the info.

Did the teller give any details about the transaction like ATM or branch, and the location of the withdrawl? If it was a check you should be able to view the canceled check online. Assuming it is fraudulent, all ATM and branch transactions are on camera, so you should be able to get your money back. Since it's only $45 the bank will probably not do much investigating and just credit you the money. You shouldn't have much to worry about, though you might have to wait a little bit for the money.

I cant talk to a teller until tomorrow. All the automated system says is "45.00 withdraw on july 5th". This just sickens me. 45 bucks is alot to me esp since im barely working.

No worries. Every time a financial institution has done something similar to me they make it right. Just talk to them tomorrow and try not to worry.

This has never happened to me in the past & this is the first credit union i have ever joined. It just baffles me. Tomorrow i plan to talk to the lady who set up my account. She did leave me a message last week asking me if everything was ok with my account & if i have any questions to call her. I just hope she can straighten out this mess. I hate thieves. I just checked out my balance @ the credit union via 1-866 # & its correct except for the missing 45.00.
