It's different from other addictions because sometimes, they win, and then the gambler is flush with cash and very generous. But it never lasts. The bookies and casinos are in business because people gamble to lose.

This year I am going to watch the Superbowl for the first time in the 18 years since I threw him out because I will be visiting someone who will watch it. The sound of football games on TV set off something like PTSD in me for years after the marriage ended. Every Sunday during football season I knew what teams he'd bet, what the spreads were, what the over/under was, just so I could keep constant tabs on the scores and know before he got home from the bar whether we still had the rent that week or not.
hey, we cant all be perfect. other than that i am sure he was a great guy.

It is like the lottery in that the odds favor the house by so much but everyone thinks they are the special child of God.
I can't think of any other way God will solve my money problems so I gamble and let Him pay my bills.

I've heard it said that the worst introduction to gambling is when you hit it big your first time. You will throw away tons of $$$ trying to recapture that win and the thrill.

I'm too cheap, we used to go to casinos, but at a 25-cent machine, if it ate up 3 of my quarters in a row, I'm like, screw that, and walked away. I used to play penny video poker at one casino. The machines would take anything from a penny to $100 a hand, up to 100 hands at a time. I would be playing one penny, one hand, put $2 in and sit there playing for half an hour. Someone would sit next to me, feed in a $100 bill, and be through in 2 minutes.

He could fix anything, I have to give him that. It's the only thing I missed about him.

I guess I like horrors, because I go to one once or twice a year. Never gamble big and always have a good time.

A casino in not necessary to lose big time. I had a friend in the late 70s that lost his car in a neighborhood poker game.

A few years agao I was watching a craps table. Saw this guy walk up and put down 5k. 5 min later it was gone.

Then he walk ups to the ATM and withdraws another 5k. Its gone soon after as well. He does this 4 times. Never blinks an eye. Never spoke a word, when he was done, he just casually walks away.

I was shocked.

Where is there a bank anywhere in the U.S. that allows anyone to withdraw that much money ($25k or more) from an ATM? Sorry, but I am not buying your story.

I can set the limit on my bank card. I've never raised it over.. I think it's about $1000 a day. I'm not sure what the limit that I can raise it to is, as I've never tried..

Let's find out

Ok.. So, I can on my own, raise my ATM cash withdrawal limit to $5050 a day. It says for a higher amount, I can call them.

It's currently at $610/day.. No idea where that number came from, it's apparently the default.

There are ATM "Credit" machines.

It does not spit out cash, but spits out a receipt that can be given to the Tellers at the Chip Purchase station. You Withdrawal the money from your account just like any ATM, But all you get is a piece of paper the Casino then uses to access the "Funds" from the ATM Clearing Bank.

I can set the Max Per transaction and Per day on my ATM Card. Never checked to see what the Max I can set is.

That is all understandable. Your amounts are far cries from $25k or more ATM daily withdrawal, which that poster is implying. Still not buying that story.
