I would like to know if there is a website to sign on if you don't want a credit check to be done without my approval given, first.

Some one once told me there is a kind of "do not check without..." like the "do not call" websites. Does any one knows which website that could be and if it is safe to use?

This link may have the info your looking for - you can stop the credit agencies from selling your info to credit card companies. I don't know if they give all of your info or just your contact information. Most places that want to check your credit report (when you apply for credit or rent an apartment), have you sign a release form - I assume that means that just anybody can't look up your entire credit report without your authorization.

It is against the law to pull a credit report unless they have written consent OR a current credit relationship. End of story.
