I have defaulted on several credit cards a few months ago. I saw a bankruptcy attorney for a free consultation and he told me to bring in the past several statements.
I couldn't get them online as they blocked my account so I called to get them and they started to ask all kinds of questions such as work #, employment. I gave them some voice mail # as my work phone and they asked if that was with xyz company, where I really work. I said "no, that # is for abc company" and they said ok and started to hassle me about paying, I said I couldnt and had to go and hung up and that I didnt want to participate in their hardship program.

Now if I withheld or didn't give 100% true updated information to a card that I had for a year, can they come after me if/when I file Chapter 7? Do they pursue such an issue and/or investigate if you partially lie about your contact information after defaulting (not on the original application)? The phone number works but is just voice mail. The job that they have listed now is not my real primary job, just my own side company which doesnt make me a dime right now. What do you think?

Thanks.

The issue you're describing is a non-issue. An incorrect phone number is nothing to lose sleep over. Faked your address and skipped off with your ill-gotten goods to Brazil? That's a different story.

No.

In order to file for a Chapter 7, your income has to be below the median income in your state with respect to your familial status.

They would be more likely to scrutinize your credit application for fraud. If you misrepresented the facts when obtaining credit, they'd likely move to have the debt excluded from bankruptcy and force you into a payment plan (in lieu of criminal charges).
