Made 6,000 in traditional IRA contributions in 2021. It was recommended by the tax software to file as a part time resident in both states.
On the CA section it calculated that I should claim $6,000 against my CA state return. The explanation section said that CA allows you to deduct the full amount as long as your CA taxable income is at least $6k.
The OR worksheet automatically calculated I should claim $2100 (with no explanation like CA had) of the $6000 against my taxable income in OR. For my income in OR the worksheet calculated I need to claim 33.6% of my income as taxable in Oregon. $2100 of $6000 is about 35% so I guess that seems about right.
Am i double dipping here? If i'm claiming $6,000 against my CA return should I be able to claim an additional $2100 against my OR return?
When I moved from one state to another, my income and expenses were separated by the date on which I became a resident of the new state. Everything that happened before my move was reported, allocated and attributed to my old state. Only transactions that occurred after my move were reported and reflected in my new state.

And yes - I filed as a part time resident.
This is kind of what I figured. I made my $6k contribution in January last year when I was in CA so I figured I’d take the deduction against my reportable income in CA. Seems weird that the software is prompting a $6k deduction in CA and a $2100 deduction in OR.
I would follow the software but you do have a good question.
I can see why you got 6000 in CA and do not understand why OR gave you anything unless they do not care the date of any transaction and allocate the whole year.
To be safe I would email the OR tax department and tell them what you are doing - taking the deduction - but you would like to confirm that you are doing this correctly before filling. Then file with your records.
