Because some places charge you more for using a credit card than a debit. And before you say it I don't like carrying much cash with me.
I agree but usually I carry about $200 in cash with me and I typically pay cash for smaller charges. Also when girl friend "borrows" money she wants it in cash......LOL
OP, you've called Chase to ask for clarification, but have you actually gone into one of their banks and asked to talk to someone in person about it? You can either make an appointment, or sometimes you can be seen after a bit of a wait, as they have other people in line ahead of you. Usually their account specialists can get to the bottom of any matter by placing a call to a regional office.
One reason I use it is for convenience. The money comes direct out of my checking account. I can see when it happens. No need to think about paying anything off. I typically use it for payments over $50. For less, I typically pay cash. My main purchases are done on AMEX direct or PayPal to my Amex card.
Convenience really isn’t a plus for debit cards, it takes less than 30 seconds to pay your credit card bill

No I haven’t had time. I just will use my other accounts.

It’s also more risky. I had my debit card hacked at a gas station years ago, there was probably a skimmer on the tank. They bought two one-way tickets to Santiago, Chile to the tune of $2600. The bank (Commerce then) Put the money back in my account, but after that I started using a Discover cashback credit card, but deducting it from my checkbook as if it was debit and paying it off in full at the end of every month.
My Chase account was closed back in June, been a customer for 15 years. I had made Zelle payments frequently and use my account account for a mix of business and personal. My guess that lead to the closure was having many Zelle payments the prior month. I had made and received probably a dozen or more. But it's normal for me. I had received and sent many in the past with no issues.
What started was a bounce check notice from my credit card company. Charged me a fee for late payment as a result. It has led to a huge a mount of payment bouncing probably cost me around $200 of late fees.
CHASE gave ZERO notice of my account was being closed until a letter 2 weeks later that said my account was closed and no explanation.
I walked into the Chase Branch and spoke with a senior sales associate who looked into my account and even called their Security dept to get an explanation. They only read me a disclaimer that based on your usage history we've decided to close your account no explanation is necessary to do so.
What load of BS, I should write to my senator in NYC to complain about the lack of transparency.
The worst part was that when they closed my account, I had over $20k of money locked for about 3 weeks and had to use my business credit to advance some payments and personal expenses.
Had another business client that depend on receiving a payment from me wait an extra week for me to pay for his services.
And after they sent me the check, my bank account and transaction history completely wiped from the online system.
Lesson learned after this is that have multiple bank accounts and never put all your eggs in one account. I know bank with 3 banks, use each other for different purposes and split income around so not one has all of my income necessary for expenses.

WOW! that's absolutely unbelievable!!
I am so sorry you went through that! to be honest, I don't want to do business with them anymore after this experience. They could have at least given us a heads up that something is triggering our internal system (the Zelle payments) and we can close your accounts if it continues etc.
I guess that is what happened with me too. I started using Zelle a lot the last month and a half. I a in NY too!
And I agree about splitting up your money. i have two other accounts that I think I am going to split my direct deposit payments between. Maybe my grandmother had the right idea keeping it under her mattress LOL
