Some of you amaze me w/ some of your posts. Suggesting someone use a childs credit and oh BTW no worries.

Call the credit card company. Make sure nothing is going on.

About 2 months after my Mother in Law died we recieved a card made out to "The Estate of ******

I thought I'd at least by me a new TV but my better judgement kicked in.

It's the least she could have done for us after all the crap we put up with.

You should definitely check into why this is happening. Sometimes the ssn is used for fake ID's or can screw up medical records, etc...

When I was 10, my mom took me to a new doctor for my 5th grade physical.

About 2 months later, I started getting bills for a hysterectomy. Mom argued with them for just under 2 years before it finally went to court and it was finally dismissed.

On the flip side, because of the collections and lawsuit, I got cc offers, insurance offers, catalogs - you name it. I had a hard time setting up credit once I turned 18 - when I was 22, my stepmom looked into my credit report and said I had an "unusual amount" of inqueries, which was preventing me from getting a credit history.

Oh - and your SIL can go to jail for using her child's credit, or at the very least, lose her kids to the foster system. Unlike 30 years ago, there are cameras EVERYWHERE and the cc companies can PROVE who charged what. And internet charges can be traced as well. Your SIL is slime. I hope she gets what she deserves.

Most of the time it doesn't mean anything... they give anyone a credit card... they don't even have to be human or breathing... If you call your table "Table Top" and fill out stuff using that alias... I am sure you would be getting credit card offers for Table Top...

My son got a pre approved offer for a Toys R Us credit card (I think it was through Chase) when he was 2. It was a few months after I signed him up for TRU Birthday club. To be safe I tried to order his ct report but it was denied bec no credit had been establised (which in this case is excellent news).

Come to think of it, you're right. Perhaps I should adopt a kid or a pet.

Most times the small print shows that the only thing you're really approved for is applying for it.
