In the mail....

I have heard that this could mean someone has stolen his identity? Is this true? Could it just be a random thing? What should I do?

Contact one of the credit bureaus and ask what needs to be done to see if his SS# has been compromised and if there are any open accounts..it could just be a fluke but in this day i would check

It's a random thing. Call up the credit card company and tell them to take your kid off their list. Don't worry or freak out though. People's dogs have gotten preapproved for this type of stuff.

Sounds like a good idea! Only that the bankruptcy laws got tightened.

Start buying and paying things off and building his credit! By High School he'll have more than enough credit to buy a house

Of course being the responsible Adult, you'll teach him the "responsibilities" of using credit

Sweet! Max that sucker out!

It could be someone else is using the SSN/identity of your 8 year old. Either that, or he/she is already a tween big spender.

You can do like my sister in law does, fill it out and have a field day. By time your kid turns 18, it'll be long gone from the credit reports..

Or you can accept the card, not use it, and by time your kid turns 18, they will have 10 years of payment history on their credit report and good credit..

Seriously though you should just toss it..

There wouldnt be a need to even file bankruptcy, the creditor would just report it on the credit report and it'll fall off in 7 years. File bankruptcy and it falls off in 10 (chapter 7)..
