I know there are a number of traditional greens given about the Christmas holidays that are unsafe for indoor pets like poinsettia and amaryllis.

Which Christmas greens are the most safe as gifts for people with indoor pets, be it cats or dogs?

And please, don't tell me none, because not giving Christmas greens is not an option.

Thanks in advance!

No one? Ok, I'll just go ahead and order gifts to be sent and let the pet owners use their judgement.

Thanks anyway.

maybe check with missouri botanical garden website??

i don't keep any live plants in my house because:

(a) i have about the brownest thumb on the planet and invariably kill them

(b) i have 2 cats.... one of which will invariably find a way to the plant and eat it..... if i put it up high enough to be safe from him, there is no point in having it in the first place.....

I dont decorate for christmas and that is the reason why I have pets and I know that they will inevitably eat something and then i will spend the night in the pet er and spending a couple of hundred for something that could have been avoided .

Check these links. Please note that there is debate about the poinsettia's toxicity. An advocate for the plant once ate a whole plant on a television show, apparently with no ill effects. I know that spider plants are safe as my cats have been eating them for many, many years.
