Just a quick poll to see how many are involved with a formal rescue, a shelter, or do rescue on your own?

Right now I am not involved in rescue, but I would like to start volunteering at one of our local shelters some time soon. I have however rescued dogs myself before. Jayda, our 1 year old female APBT was a rescue. She was abandoned down the road from us so we took her in. And We didn't really rescue Destiny, our 10 month old female APBT, we saved her life. She would have died within the next day or so if we didn't get her when we did.

Well, I'm a former President of the Board of Directors of a local humane society. I am now fortunate enough to work with animals and get a paycheck as well, the former was volunteer and I still classify myself as helping as our boarding facility fosters pets when there is room.

Non-profit rescue here. We just had one of our biggest adoptions since we've opened. Two bullies one of which has been with us for three years.

Yep every weekend is animal day!

I currently am the lead Web Photographer person for our local SPCA. We handle all of the petfinder pictures and I LOVE it! I am also on the Volunteer Solutions Team and we have meetings once a month. The shelter has gone through many changes, all mostly positive, and we've been trying to keep it going strong. I have wanted to do this for many years and finally took charge and did it in May of this year. I am so glad I did. Its been hard at times but very rewarding to say the least. We also rescued our dog from the same SPCA 5 years before...and we celebrate his life every year on that special day!

Past president of largest breed specific group in the South - now affiliated with Majesty Rottweiler Rescue out of Darlington, Maryland, where I got my adorable blind Rottweiler, Holt! Trying to organize my life to become active with our local shelter.

Majesty Rottweiler Rescue Inc.

Please read my Holt's story at the bottom of the home page and you will understand my passion for protecting all breeds from back yard breeders! And yeah, that's me and my Holt on his adoption day in Maryland a year ago! Holt had congenital glaucoma and had to have his eyes removed due to severe pressure that was the human equivalent of a migraine headache around the clock...fortunately, he's very bright and very sweet and gets around just fine, thank you! There are pictures of him at the first house we lived in when we returned stateside, as well as pictures at the river cabin. Doesn't seem to matter where he goes, he finds his way around within a matter of minutes...he is truly a survivor!
