GREENACRES, Fla. - Police say a South Florida woman stole a couple's cat to get them to return her dog. Linda Urioste's black Labrador was recently picked up by animal control officers and later adopted by Jutta Hollar and her husband.

This woman sounds pretty shady, however, I know that in Chicago, if your pet is at animal control for 7 days or more it will be adopted. I was talking to a volunteer at a shelter and more than once, people have been on vacation, left there dog with a service they thought they could trust, the service lost the dog and when the people got back more than 1 week later, there dog had been adopted out. She said 99% of the time, the new adopters will return the dog, however, occasionally they will not. That would suck! I would want to know how this person didn't know where her dog was for weeks......
