This woman sounds pretty shady, however, I know that in Chicago, if your pet is at animal control for 7 days or more it will be adopted. I was talking to a volunteer at a shelter and more than once, people have been on vacation, left there dog with a service they thought they could trust, the service lost the dog and when the people got back more than 1 week later, there dog had been adopted out. She said 99% of the time, the new adopters will return the dog, however, occasionally they will not. That would suck! I would want to know how this person didn't know where her dog was for weeks......
