I've been looking at lower cost sites for purchasing product for both my dog and cat and have come across "Pet products on the web". Their prices seem extremely reasonable and I wonder if anyone has used them? Pros? Cons? Any advice appreciated, thanks.
the only two pet websites I have used are fostersandsmith.com and bird.com . Just recently had to purchase a new cage and then food . I usually use those two . I dont buy meds over the net anymore though cause that turned out really bad for me and the dog .
I've purchased from both Dr. Fosters and PetMeds and never had any problems. I never heard of this one before, so just checking to see if anyone else had used them.
I would not purchase from a company without a telephone number and a physical address, but that's just me. I'm concerned about security, gray market and off-label goods, and the ability to follow up if there's a problem.
The company also doesn't state their return policy or any warranty that what you receive is what you ordered.
I bought prescription flea meds online before, and the first time I used them everything was fine. My vet gave the company a bit of a hard time with verifying the prescription, though, which at first annoyed me (I was thinking they just wanted to make the money instead of letting the sale go to another company).
Then, the next time I bought flea meds online (same brand), it ended up giving my cat a big bald spot & scab where I'd applied the medication. So I talked to the vet, and it turns out they agree to match any price of online flea meds because it's so much safer for the animals. I just went online & found the best deal, printed out the page to prove the price (it had to show the date & store), went to the vet and bought it for almost 50% less than they normally charge. It's worth a try to ask, everyone!
We used them for the last 2 years. The only real complaint I have had is that the last shipment, some of our heartworm rx's pills were crushed. It typically takes under two weeks to receive the shipment.
I've bought from Dr. Fosters and Smith, also RX's faxed to them from my vet.
