Many **virtual hugs** on Thyla's passing.

I loved those pictures of her and Cobalt; the one of her in the Christmas cap was so sweet...and the one taken from the stairs where Thyla is in the sunlight on her porch makes me think that she's watching you, still ~

You made her passing very peaceful for her. We all owe that to our little ones, and I'm sure Thyla will be forever thankful. You will always hear her nails on the floor, catch glimpses of her around the corner, feel her pressing against you. I hope you can take comfort in that.

It is all of us who have read this thread who should thank you for having the love and courage to share your experience. I know that you have helped me immeasurably.

Thank you ~

My sympathies and condolences Plaid.

We should all be so lucky as to have our pets pass as peacefully as Thyla did. Actually, we should all be so lucky so as to pass that peacefully ourselves.

Real hospice and palliative care for pets is a market just crying out for solutions.

Our dog is geriatric and while still in good health for his age, time will do what time will do.

We are trying to come up with a realistic palliative care plan for when the inevitable starts to occur (as someone mentioned, it's often a gradual process as opposed to either a sudden event or the culmination of a terminal illness). Far too much of the current vet ecosystem in our area still seems to be caught up in the extremes of heroic medicine versus office visit euthanasia.

If we can't find professionals to satisfy our needs it looks like we'll have to become self sufficient. The real challenge would become getting the meds, if the vet won't cooperate with our plan.

I have a question...but it's not about pet hospice. Does anyone know what happened to the OP, Plaidmom? She disappeared from C-D over a year ago. I always enjoyed reading her posts.
