The Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill has a big treehouse display where you can climb up and walk around it. It's supposedly very popular with the kids.

It's a bit of a hike but you could take the kids to a train ride at the Strasburg Railroad or up in Jim Thorpe.

Go to a Chuck E' Cheese's... go to a library with kids activities (the one near us has them almost every weekday in the summer)... join a Y and take them to the pool...

Go see the horses in Fairmount Park
Play at Jenks school playground on Germantown Ave in Chestnut Hill & then visit the toy shop on the same block.
Go feed the ducks at Valley Green in front of the Valley Green Inn (do this while you are in Chestnut Hill since it is right there)
