OK on one thread here I got info that Pa is NOT homeschooling friendly and then I read it's do-able but it depends on the county (or district?)
The OP states that they will be home schooling so the school district isn't an issue. I realize your answers all focus on the OP's "location" and "cruchy" questions

I am now so totally confused because we also considered living in NJ and working in Center City Phila, Pa because NJ is so HSing friendly.

Does anyone here know if Pa is that homeschooling friendly (or not-friendly) according to whatever district you live in? Or not?

I am just curious where discojo is in their prcess...if they have found out anything more that they can add to this.discojo please update on your process if it is underway and share w/ another Homeschooler getting desperate!
Thank you!

What does it mean to be "homeschooling-friendly"? I thought homeschooling meant not caring about what regular schools thought or did.

It does not matter where you live in PA, (or any other state for that matter), you need to follow the state homeschool law...all homeschoolers report to their local school district. Some districts try to place additional restrictions or requirements on homeschooling families. However, you only need to do what is directed by law, no more, and no less. I find homeschooling in Philadelphia County to be no problem. Hope this helps, good luck.
