As far as schools go, a couple of better comparison sites are SchoolMatters (http://www.schoolmatters.com/ - broken link) and SchoolDigger.com - School Rankings, Reviews and More - Public and Private Elementary, Middle, High Schools Great schools is more opinion then anything IMHO.

The acre of land is going to be hard to find in the towns that have been mentioned unless you are looking at the very high end of the housing market or maybe older homes. I personally like Doylestown of the towns mentioned.

Everyone has provided good info. in this thread.

Be sure to check out Sellersville and Perkasie when you visit. They meet all of your criteria. Good school system, calm and quiet, things to do and shopping very close by, and an excellent park system. In fact, I think Sellersville/Perkasie has the best park system of all the towns mentioned here. The park system winds right through the middle of both towns along a creek. It offers biking and walking trails, ball fields, fishing, etc. You even get a little culture thrown in with the Sellersville theater... an excellent place to see a show.

Both Sellersville and Perkasie have quaint downtown areas, but they are not as large as Doylestown and have fewer shops and places to eat.

You can easily find homes in your price range there.
