Late to the party but I will add that East Oak Lane is very IRR family friendly. We have tons so mixed race couples and families living peacefully here.

Where in Mount Airy did you settle if you don't mind me asking? West? East? I'm trying to figure out if one side is better than the other.

Timmy, both west and east mt airy are nice. I grew up in west mt airy and have lived in east mt airy. Most of northwest philly is decent.

Timmy,

We moved to E Mt. Airy and we like it a lot. Stenton Ave doesn't look so great aesthetically but it doesn't seem "bad". I've lived in some crazy neighborhoods in my life and E Mt. Airy is pretty chill. I would say there are more sketchy "pockets" in EMA than in WMA but there are some shady streets in WMA too. Your dollar will go farther in EMA because of the perception (perhaps not so accurate) that WMA is better. Overall, Mount Airy is great. Nice people, lots of trees, Wissahickon Park, great sledding hills, Trolley Car Diner...you can't go wrong.
