Looking to move to Fort Washington in sometime. Would appreciate if anyone could advice if 80K is good enough for me, 2+1 kid (no schooling yet)?

(This post should be moved to the Philadelphia board).

Yes, for the most part, you can live in the area on $80k, but you may need to purchase a townhouse or older, smaller home (not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that). Fort Washington can be expensive, but there are some older ranch and split-level developments that might have more affordable houses. BTW if you live in the immediate area, the Upper Dublin School District is great (for when your child is older).

Also, check out Ambler, which is in the Wissahickon SD. There are some cape cod-type housing developments in Ambler. There are also twins in Ambler, as well as singles.

80K used wisely or 80k with a lot of debt? makes all the difference in the world. if you've got low debt you'd be ok, if you're like the rest of us it'd be tough.
