I'm a young, single professional (late 20s ealy thirtys) who recently moved to Ambler, PA. I used to be in Philly but wanted to get into the suburbs to something quieter. I'm interested in meeting and getting to know other singles. Is Ambler a good place to meet other singles like myself? Did I make a mistake?

How does one meet people? Usually at work, church, the YMCA or health club, some class or school situation, neighborhood associations where you live, volunteer situations but not bars unless you want a one night stand. There is certainly no advantage to living in Ambler, (surrounded by everything that gives suburban sprawl a bad name) but all those possibilities are available there, pretty much as they are everywhere.

I take it that means early 30s?

Ambler is a cool place. I don't really know how to meet others myself other than through activities, but I think Ambler has a good population in your demographic. IF you figure out the how part, let me know. I'm new here and find people in the suburbs are extremely friendly compared to other places I've lived.

I live in Ambler and love it here. I've been here for several years so I'm pretty settled in and not sure I can offer too much info on how to meet people, but my first thought is to take a class a Twisters. It's a yoga studio in town but they offer all kinds of classes. I don't go as much I'd like but have had some really nice conversations with people there. Also there is a new open mic every Sunday at Finn McCools, I know the bar scene probably isn't the best venue but I think an open mic attracts people who are interested in more than just drinking. I haven't been yet but am planning to check it out this Sunday (7:30). If you're on facebook you may want to start "liking" Ambler related pages and businesses, that's how I found out about the open mic. I met the guy who runs it on FB and he's very nice. Moderator Cut Look for me on Sunday if you go
