The issue I have with posts like these is that the South Jersey aspect of it is always highlighted. Why does it make a difference that they are from SJ? If they were from Delco you wouldn't say "those Delco suburban goons." Keep in mind these "goons" are mostly the kids of people who moved across the river from South Philly in the 60s/70s. Maybe it had something to do with their parenting? But no, of course not! The real reason is because there is this magical goo in the Delaware that turns you into a hooligan the second you cross the bridge.

Fair enough. I retracted my own statement about that.

Nah ... if you're around the city enough, you can pretty much tell the city dwellers from the suburbanites. Maybe it's the body language moreso than the clothes.

Yeah... it isn't 100 percent, but you can sometimes see the difference between someone who lives in the city, compared to others who only visit here and there. Sometimes this only translates into someone living in the city who isn't familiar with certain areas, instead of them not being from the city. It can be difficult to gauge sometimes which one it is, but you can definitely tell at times that it is one or the other.

Some areas further south like Mayfair or Oxford Circle aren't as good as they were.
I live in center city but my wife is in love with Franklin Mills. We often go up in the mornings during the week where I sip on a cup of coffee while she shops. I find it very relaxing just watching people walking by. Go there on the weekends, and it is just like the Gallery. I also on occasion travel up to the LA Fitness on Grant Ave to work out with some buds, and get dis heartened at the level of theft in the locker room and parking lot.

"... just like the Gallery." Do you consider that good or bad? I can't stand Franklin Mills.

Bad, and I will leave it at that. Franklin Mills I find very solemn and quit in the morning hours during the week. When we go we usually get there about a half hour before the mall opens and walk. It is a great mall for walking exercise.

Unfortunately, I've only been there later on the weekends, when it looks like a human garbage convention.

So true! It's just the way they act. The way they cross the road... they actually cross at crosswalks and wait for the lights to change. It's so cute

They tend to look a little more innocent too... like a dog who doesn't know what to do.
