it's four minutes on the subway to 30th st and it runs every 4-6 minutes. airport line trains are often late, even if just a few minutes, whereas the el is rarely late. sure it's cheaper to scam the system but it isn't really worth it unless you're desperate or afraid of the subway. it just isn't that expensive to ride the el. on top of that, the el is closer to 11th and spruce.

I would ride the El. As I said earlier if a person is taking Amtrak to NYC, buying tokens shouldn't be an issue. If the OP is concerned about money he should take SEPTA to Trenton and switch over to NJT. Or maybe take Bolt or Megabus.

I actually agree with you seriously was just offering a potentially free solution. Is a shame that Patco never made it's way to market/30th street like it was once planned, would have perfect from the location

I agree it's not a good idea to rely on the free connection, or the assumption that it's free, for a work week commute. If anything i will try this for a week or two, and carry a couple regional tickets on me in case they ask. Otherwise, I can buy tokens for a month of Market Frankford commuting .. It ends up being just over $60 for a 5 day work week.

By the way, I am ruling out the bike or bus idea. Wearing a suite everyday on a bike is not good at all. Plus, the cross-town bus commute is brutal ... Tons of traffic, cars trying to parallel park, traffic lights not timing correctly, ugh!

Believe it or not, instead of banning bikes in Center City the city actually encourages them. There is a long simmering war here between bike riders on one side and motorists and pedestrians on the other.
