Live in clifton hgts now, renting, and am looking to buy a home that has reasonable taxes with a 140K budget....looked at twins in the lansdowne area closer to shadeland ave and marshall, that area in there, they all have shared driveways, and NO yards, its goofy.....my son will be going to DCCC in fall and i have to drive him, so not looking to go down towards upper chi or boothwyn although taxes vary depending on area and house type.. lansdowne taxes go from mid 4000s and up for twins and single, aldan too, which has nice homes, but taxes are high, lousy school district to thank..... not interested in UD, drexel hill is nice, grew up there, but twins are all too close and no yards or tight streets and higher taxes.....cant win.....dont know enough about areas like glenolden, houses seem nice and taxes low but depends where it is, norwood holmes folsom ridley out that way, woodlyn crum lynne eddystone, chester DONT think i want to go that way, wallingford is nice but taxes are high and not many houses i can afford, if so they are bordered on chester... swarthmore too exp..... springfield too exp.....all out that way cant find anything.... Aston has some, secane has some, brookhaven, dont know much about...then parkside and back towards chester and lower chi and marcus hook, lester trainer, not good areas, essington prospect park, not good areas.......parts of ridley are ok, but cant find much. seems everything is AS IS or foreclosed or auctions ...i know 140-145 isnt a high budget, but there are places out there just dont know where...

ANY IDEAS or thoughts on ANY AREAS mentioned?? NO CITY, thats out....im a country girl ...if i could afford to move way out in northern ches county or west ches cnty with lots of land id be gone....but right now i cant do that and dont want the long drive back and forth to DCCC......if my son was going away to college it would be different story, my H works at swarthmore college, and isnt really interested in driving 95 or blue route everyday to work, thats why ive been sticking to certain areas

Do you currently have kids in elementary, middle, or high school?

Glenolden is fine. Kids would go to Interboro.

Have you tried Morton or Rutledge? I think kids go would to Ridley school district.

Hi
no more school age kids...just 1 son who is graduating in june and off to DCCC in sept....so even though no more schools to worry about, still have to pay school taxes....UD taxes are high mid 4000s and up..same as william penn, high 4000s and up and still going up, lousy district.... glenolden taxes and collingdale taxes are pretty good,2-3000s, of course taxes arent just schools its home too and where its at, but schools play a big part.....wallingford great schools but 5000s in taxes....

anyone know the area of wallingford near media prky and cedar rd?? bunch of single capes, i know people that live on georgetown rd, very nice, what about other side of Mcdade blvd on S. WELLS ave.? is this a tight street ? parking ok? even though u have driveways, can you get out of them without hitting a car on the street???? hahaha... pep boys is on side of street at walmart, WELLS is on other side of mcdade, backs up to open fields and the train ....also w. albermarle ave in lansdowne, nice twins but seems like a tight street
