Realistically, which is a better commute to center city?

Live in Drexel Hill, drive to 69th street (or Trolley, but the Trolley is probably slower). Take Market-Frankfort line.

Live in right near Secane station and take the Media septa line.

Obviously the market-frankfort line has more time flexibility, but it can be a pain to get there through all the stop lights right next to it on west chester pike, and I think it has too many stops to be honest.

Even if you walked to Secane station(which has permit-only parking according to SEPTA) it's $127 for a Trailpass vs $83 for a Transpass. So if you want to save money you can opt for the trolley and El. It's what, a 10 minute ride between Drexel Hill and 69th? 15-20 minutes from 69th to Center City depending on the station?

The train is faster and more comfortable, no lower class people - the El used to reek of BO in the summer before the new air conditioned cars. The train is worth the money. The St. Charles section of Drexel Hill is close to the Gladstone station.

Will the OP be able to find a seat when getting on at Gladstone during rush hour? And if it is a rush hour commute, the lower class won't make that much of a difference on the El. Do what I try to do and sit in the first car lol.

Oh come on people! You've never smelled people on the El? How about the guy who beat the other guy with a hammer, child in tow? I take the El for sporting events, but every day? No thanks. Call me snob, I'll call you cheapskate and we'll leave it at that.

Yeah it says the El, being the most affordable option, attracts the seedier elements, not just the thrifty ones.
