I'm a African-American male in my 30s and my wife is Puerto-Rican, also in her 30s and we are looking to put our grade-school aged daughter in the best school district possible.

We've looked all over the area, and we just love Bucks County, but there is a serious lack of diversity. We found a few homes that we love, one in the Centennial School District, one in the Council Rock School District and one in Neshaminy.

However, we don't want our daughter to feel uncomfortable going to school and being the only minority around and we don't want to encounter any racism from our neighbors.

So are there any diverse neighborhoods or areas in Bucks County?

Try Bensalem, Bristol (especially the borough), or Linconia-Concord Park (article here: Bensalem's Lin-Park residents oppose plan for townhouses next door - Philly.com). I don't know about the schools, but the areas I mentioned have some diversity. I hope this helps.

I think you'd experience a good amount of diversity in both Neshaminy and Pennsbury, because they pull from a broad spectrum of neighborhoods. You are right about council rock though - there would literally be none.

Bucks County is seriously white, but upper class above route 1. You're not going to run into the ignoramouses you'd find in a blue collar white area. Just stay away from Fairless Hills, Croydon, and the part of Levittown around Tullytown becuase they're of the Good ol boy mindset and have "issues" about diversity.

I've heard that Bensalem among all other areas in Bucks is very diverse, not only racially, but culturally and that it was the "Abington of Bucks County" if you will. We'll definitely be checking it out.

As for Bristol, I'm not a fan of their school district.

I'm not sure what other races are represented, but the Centennial District which is Upper Southampton/Warminster has a large contingent of Mexicans living there. I'm not sure how many blacks/Puerto Ricans, but at least she wouldn't be surrounded by only a sea of white faces.

Flexing those internet muscles huh? Moderator Cut I've dealt with racism growing up, being the only black person in my school and in my neighborhood. So I know what it feels like to have to eat lunch in the school bathroom because no one wanted to sit with "the colored one". I know what it feels like to be picked last in every sport at Recess because no one wanted a black boy on their team and I know what it feels like to walk home a mile from school , crying, because everytime I tried to get on the bus, I was pelted with erasers and ketchup packets and I refuse to let my daughter go through the same stuff I went through just because of my skin color so don't lecture me... without knowing the full story....
