My point is that the Killadelphia label just hangs on as being the only thing of relevance that we seem to be known by by millions of people beyond this metro area. That bothers me. Maybe it doesn't bother you.

A little, but it is to be expected. Philadelphia isn't all that safe of a city, although certainly it would be cruel fate for something to happen to you on a day trip to Center City.

Just when I thought the digital billboard on South Broad was the the most offensive addition to the city I could imagine, I saw the proposal for the globe near Reading Terminal:
Urban Experiential Display on Vimeo

I hope good taste prevails in the end.

You're not scaring me. Day trip? I live just north of CC. I go to CC every, single day. I consider it my neighborhood.

Not only that but the robotic female voice was just awful to listen to. Ugh.

Today's American Community Survey data show that 27 percent of Philadelphians reported living below the poverty line in 2010 compared with 23 percent in 2000 census estimates.Further, median household income dropped 15 percent to about $34,400 in 2010, compared with an inflation-adjusted figure of $40,000 in 2000.
Yes! Outdoor cafe is a great measure of progress!

We'll see how the census of 2020 looks.

Philadelphia 2035 will be exactly the same. High taxes. No job market within city limits thanks to taxes. Poverty even higher. Poor always get poorer, and rich always get richer. There is not a single thing going on in Philadelphia that will this reverse this trend. Except maybe the communist party winning a majority in the house and the senate.

This thread is intended to highlight proposed and completed public and private projects in the city. This is not meant to be a rant or complaint thread. (Those are allowed from time to time.) Going forward, any posts that do not offer new information about projects - or constructive criticism and comments about such - will be considered off-topic and subject to infraction.

I would love to see this happen. Boston's silver line works real well via BRT, and I think this part of CC would easily support something like this.

I could definitely see some sort of BRT line going through it in the future. Of course turning it into a rapid transit line would probably be to costly.
