One of the most important ones, one that other developers would do well to heed:

Get the community involved BEFORE the architects start drawing. Listen to the concerns of your neighbors. You may not be able to give them exactly what, or everything, they want, but chances are what you end up building will be better for it, and they will understand the project better as well.

Not to be a Mantua hater, but there were several open house sessions at 30th St Station that invited anyone to come in see the plans, speak with the team, and hand in suggestions. The sign up list for all of the events had hardly anyone from the Mantua neighborhood, it was 95% Powelton, U City, and CC residents, and suburban.

Its annoying because now is the chance to speak up, and I guarantee the people in Mantua(likely the neighborhood that will change the most) will make a big ole commotion once the project kicks off and wealthy people start moving to the area, and its hard to take them seriously when they didn't even remotely care before.

That might be, but the civic associations in Mantua and West Powelton were invited to participate in the discussions that took place as the plan was being shaped. I understand they sent representatives.

I think you know my attitude about gentrification.

Good to see, but they really are stretching the definition of "tower".

Well 18 stories I consider a tower, but built in phases is the stretch.

I guess tower means something more substantial to me. To me, they're building an 18 story building. A 40 story building would equate to tower to me. Anyway, just thought that was funny.

Fine that it wil be built but it looks generic to me. Just boring looking.

I couldn't tell which building they were referring to. I thought it was an existing build from the 90s.

Default Good news day

I'm a little surprised to read that the region will see 60,000 new jobs: Jobs growth fuels an already hot Philly-area apartment market. I'm presuming this applies to this year, and not over a longer period of time.

Supporting evidence of improved financial health of the city, it seems we are collecting more tax revenue than expected: City tax revenue jumps
