- Nonsense street parking removed (except some loading lanes/spots)
- Trees down the median
- Protected bike lanes down the sides or down the median next to the trees with bike lights
- Cross-walk bump-outs and quality sidewalks, islands in appropriate spots

It could be a truly gorgeous "avenue" or "boulevard". Something worthy to stroll on with quality shopping. Instead, we get these flaming turds down the median, which don't provide lighting and are 100% out of place.
Since no one under 40, with talent, in this town has the guts to run an effective electoral campaign to replace anybody what you are hoping for is a long way off.

You should be involved with politics.

You read my mind. For someone so ambitious with others' time and dedication to politics, I would think your suggestion could be a reality.

Yeah, the constant replies are a bit much. You'd never tell someone complaining about the happenings in Washington to go become a Senator if you don't like it. There are a million reasons someone can't or won't become a politician. It doesn't mean people can't have ideas, suggestions, or complaints.

I am. But so are too many leftover older Boomers. You guys talk about the obvious local leadership problem but all it seems to be is talk. It's depressing that it's not more than that.

I'm a younger X'er, and I'm not sure if others on this board feel the same, but the local political system is such a disgrace, I can't imagine getting involved. Personally, I don't have the desire to spend my life arguing and getting threatened by the trash bags currently in office. And the truth is that you have to play ball to some extent to get in and make allies. Nobody's hands are truly clean if we're being honest.

I feel the same about the state and federal level. The whole thing is a disgrace and these career politicians are hard to beat. You'd have to become a career politician yourself to make real difference, and that's assuming a difference can be made at this point. Basically, politics is a life sentence. No thanks.
