I saw the 835 area code is being activated on Sept. 2nd.

That brings a grand total of 6 area codes for Southeast PA. 215/267/445 for the city. 610/484/835 for the suburbs and Leigh Valley. Feel old school with my 215 cellphone number.

It's awesome to see it all finally moving after talking about it for so many years. Like if you stood on the Market St. bridge 10 years ago, you would be absolutely shocked by what is there now. The River Walk towers, Aramark, FMC, the Evo, CHOP pediatrics, One Riverside. Much more to come!
Agree. The idea of another supertall is cool, but I'd rather dozens of (well designed) mid-rise buildings in U City vs. 1 supertall. I hope the red building along JFK is still a go though, would be about 500' tall and a cool design.

And yes, the changes throughout U City are amazing, even since ~2015.

Aramark's recycled (it was the Marketplace Design Center, and originally, the plans for it called for a residential overbuild), but yeah.

I know the renderings when Schuylkill Yards was announced showed a supertall, but I suspect that those post-COVID changes in the way we work have already deleted it. I'm not crying tears over that, either, as long as the project continues to build out, period.

When I had to change my mobile phone number recently, I swapped my 267 number for a 215 one.

I've lived here long enough, I felt I needed to feel really Philadelphian.

The 215/610 are premium now. It's funny, I remember when my sister was moving to NYC to go Columbia, and she was insistent that she needed a NYC area code, but couldn't get a 212 so she got a 917 number. I had no idea why it mattered to her, but I kind of get it now lol.

I'm sure you remember the days when you only needed an area code for "long distance" and the first three numbers were communicated in letters not numbers; so my childhood number started with PI-5.

I'm a 610er! And that is my cellphone, so extra special.

Funny, I randomly have clients all over the country with connections to the region ask if I am from Philadelphia because of the 610 area code, (technically Delaware County).

WAbash 4-6316. Grandma: DElmar 3-1960.

And in the Kansas City metropolitan phone exchange, it was not necessary to dial 816 or 913 to reach numbers in the other state. There are still just two area codes for the area because most of the rural territory in each was given its own area code.

PATCO expects long-shuttered Franklin Square station to reopen in 2024

https://www.phillyvoice.com/franklin...-philadelphia/

Having another subway station reopen in the city is never a bad thing in my opinion.

A much needed boost for Center City.

Comcast workers told to come back to office in-person 3 days a week

https://www.inquirer.com/business/co...-20220804.html

Starting Sept. 12, U.S.-based Comcast cable and corporate workers will need to work three days a week in the office, according to a company memo and spokespeople. That includes the 8,000 employees who will work in the two downtown Philadelphia towers.

Comcast is designating “common” days — Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday — for in-office work, while on Mondays and Fridays, employees can work remotely.
